For media companies looking for a new way to reach the automotive vertical, the Cars for $15,000 platform is sparking interest from dealers and buyers.

 

This white label platform allows buyers to shop for all used cars under $15,000 in any market. When a media company signs a dealer on the platform, Wehaa, its developer, uploads the used car inventory that meets that criteria. Like all Wehaa’s auto technology, the platform is mobile-first and does not require a feed to import the dealer’s inventory. The main value proposition is a lead generation model that drives hyper local users directly to the dealer’s vehicle detail page (VDP), a unique approach.

 

The Cars Under 15K vertical platform also includes inventory banners, digital-to-print reverse publishing and a cutting-edge Facebook marketing package.

 

 

Selecting the $13,980 Lexus coup (below) shows how a click from the newspaper site goes directly to the dealer’s VDP and a "check the value of your trade-in” promotion.

 

 

A dashboard reports clicks, impressions, unique users, reach, and all the standard analytics. The platform, which uses proprietary feedless technology to pull automotive inventory in real time, has also been used for new car inventory. But Wehaa wanted a new product that would provide a stronger differentiator for its media clients pursuing the lost automotive category or seeking to increase spending.

 

The idea came from the super success of banner ad promotions for cars less than $15,000. 

 

"We were brainstorming one day, and said, why not try it for the whole vertical," said Kevin Collins, director of sales at Wehaa. "Why not import all the used cars to the website."

 

So far media customers include the NewsOK.com, the website for the Oklahoman; a group of newspapers in the New England News Association, and SCNI.
